The warm flavors of eggs and toast!
If you're looking for a simple meal for a crowd, you've come to the right place. Thanks to the mighty sheet pan, this is hands-down the most effortless way to prepare the traditional egg in a hole breakfast dish for friends, family, and brunch buddies in less than 20 minutes! The best part? While the recipe is super simple, the toppings can be everything but. You can easily keep your company happy (yes, even the picky eaters!) with a toppings bar that makes every plate customizable.
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400F and grease a sheet pan with cooking spray.
- Using a 2 1/4-inch biscuit cutter, cut a hole in the center of each slice of bread. Discard bread centers (or save for yolk dipping!) and arrange bread slices on the prepared pan.
- Crack an egg into each hole and carefully place sheet pan in oven. Bake for about 7 1/2 minutes for a runny yolk, and 10 minutes for a fully cooked yolk. Keep in mind that ovens vary and the eggs will continue to cook slightly once pulled out of the oven.
Nellie's Notes
Need some inspiration for your toppings? Try a combination of bacon crumbles, goat cheese, hot sauce, basil, parsley, chopped tomatoes, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Or, keep it simple with a dash of everything bagel seasoning. You can also try Southwest-themed accouterments like salsa, sour cream, cotija cheese, cilantro, and even guacamole.
