Monroe, NH – Plant Manager

The Plant Manager has overall responsibility for the performance of an assigned facility. This position will direct and coordinate all aspects of production from the processing of raw materials to the shipment of the finished goods. This includes, but is not limited to: production, quality, warehouse, maintenance, sanitation and safety.

Key areas of Responsibility

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate the production of high quality, safe and cost-effective product.
  • Provide leadership to create an environment committed to quality, food safety, team member safety, and positive team member relations.
  • Monitor all operations to evaluate yields, efficiency, labor utilization, and product quality.
  • Take corrective action as necessary to ensure continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of daily data for production metrics and analysis.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and repair of equipment/facilities with Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Ensure production and labor costs comply with approved budgets. Provide feedback in development of current and long-term goals and strategies and provide input for plant budget.
  • Develop and implement methods of achieving plant goals within established parameters.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors to ensure proper facility maintenance and sanitation.
  • Promote a safe work place, ensure compliance with safety policies and address hazards.
  • Maintain and enforce monthly safety trainings; instilling company goal of zero accidents.
  • Enforce consistent, fair, and inclusive employment practices. Collaborate with Human Resources to administer company policies and procedures, address labor needs, and resolve staffing issues.
  • Communicate and monitor specific expectations for supervision and team members.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, SQF, HACCP, SOP, EEO, OSHA, USDA, or other applicable regulations.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationship with USDA representatives, auditors, suppliers, and other management members.
  • Perform other related responsibilities, as needed, to support PGO’s business objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage 3-6 Supervisors directly and up to approximately 60 team members.
  • Carry out supervisory duties in accordance with company, local, State and Federal regulations.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training associates, planning, assigning, and directing work, performance appraisals, rewarding and disciplining associates, addressing employee issues and resolving problems.
  • Communicating on a daily basis with Monroe Headquarters.

Qualifications, Education & Preferred Skills Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years’ management experience in manufacturing, food processing industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated team building and leadership skills.
  • Attention to detail and uncompromising concern for quality and food safety.
  • Strong mechanical, technical, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong mathematical and written and oral communication skills.
  • Well organized and self-directed.
  • HACCP certified a plus.
  • Bilingual English & Spanish a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Explorer.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and extended hours.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Tasks require long periods of walking and standing, minimal sitting.
  • Tasks require stooping, bending, kneeling, occasional crawling.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Requires regular use of standard office equipment (computers, phones, and scanner/copier).
  • Requires occasional use of hand tools and power equipment.
  • This role is regularly required to talk, see and hear.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust to focus.
  • Normal Production Plant environment with controlled climate.
  • Exposure to fluorescent lighting.
  • Production environment noise (any exposure to noise above 85 dbl requires hearing protection).
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.
